To survive the 2 ½ hour trip we definitely came prepped with snacks and munchies and road maps. Luckily we didn’t need the maps as much as the munchies.
What was harder to plan for were all the bathroom stops we had to make along the way! We made sure to make plenty of pit stops so that mom and baby had an opportunity to stretch. And what better way to get your body moving . . .
. . . than to hula hoop! I’m still trying to decide if the car trip or the time in Philadelphia was more eventful.
Historic Philadelphia is a site to behold and there is so much to see. What is the only thing that can make it even more beautiful?
You guessed it. Here we are in the courtyard of Independence Hall with a Library in the background.
Sadly we were unable to see the inside of Independence Hall. The 4th of July weekend was especially busy and all the tours were filled up for the day by the time we arrived. That didn’t mean we couldn’t take a photo opportunity.
What time is it?
It is 3:22 in the afternoon so Ben Gates can find the location of the 3-D glasses that Ben Franklin left in the hollow brick with the Masonic symbol!!! We thought it was funny that we happened to be in the courtyard at this time and couldn’t resist. We found it even funnier when in speaking to one of the tour guides about what the National Treasure movie did for tourism in the area that he responded, "I still get serious questions from people asking if part of the Templar Treasure is on display anywhere in the area."
It was a wonderful little trip to take during a much-celebrated time of the year and we had a lot of fun in Philly. Probably the biggest thing we were reminded of during our visit is the reliance of our founding father's upon God to guide and direct their actions to set up as perfect a governmental structure as fallible men could conceive. It was a wonderful reminder of who we really have to thank for all the freedoms we enjoy in this great country.
